Live racing with spectators has returned to Wheeling Island! We have self-betting terminals along with several windows open with mutual tellers available to take bets.The concessions stand remain closed but we are offering grab-and-go selections on the racing side. The racing side entrance has reopened during races. This entrance will maintain the same entry guidelines as our main entrance. Please note that the racing apron is currently closed.

The Lucky North® Club has limited hours, and food and beverage options are also limited to grab-and-go selections from the Sports Bar.
The Pointe Sea & Steak restaurant, food court and buffet are currently closed.
We are excited to share that we have opened our hotel for a limited number of rooms. The hotel is open Thursdays thru Sundays. At this time, bookings are only managed through our player development department. We look forward to opening more rooms very soon.

Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack implemented a comprehensive program ahead of its June 5 reopening that features new health and safety standards aimed at helping keep guests and employees safe while slowing the spread of COVID-19 including new entry procedures. The program, called Play It Safe™, encompasses Wheeling Island’s new operating procedures, which have been reengineered to minimize contact risk. It includes bolstered hygiene protocols to meet or exceed best-practice guidelines of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In April 2019 Rosie’s Gaming Emporium opened as the first facility with historic horse racing machines at Colonial Downs. Later that year Rosie’s opened another location in Vinton, outside of Roanoke, Virginia and a third location opened in Richmond. The fourth location opened in Hampton in November, 2019, and a fifth facility might open in Chesapeake by mid-2021.
All of the gaming emporiums are owned by The Colonial Downs Group and the state has limited them to a total of 10 locations with a maximum of 3,000 machines at all of the locations combined.
There are no live table games, slots, or gaming machines offered at any of the casinos in Virginia. Virginia casinos only offer these historic horse racing machines.
The minimum gambling is 18 and all casinos are open from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. (4 a.m. on Fri/Sat).

Visit the Caverns
There are at least nine different caverns located throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Luray Caverns is the largest and home to the world’s largest musical instrument. The Stalacpipe Organ is played from a regular-size organ, but its organ pipes are the stalactites themselves. Shenandoah Caverns is the only cavern that offers elevator service to its subterranean rooms. All caverns offer a great escape from the summer heat with year-round temperatures around 60 degrees.
